Gaffney, Sumter win in OT; Dutch Fork beats Spartanburg 24-7 in opener

          Greenville Gaffney High School opened its high school football season with a 42-40 overtime victory over J.L. Mann on Friday at the JLM field.

 

         Jayvon Gilmore completed 15 of 30 passes for 277 yards and three touchdowns for the Indians Wide receiver Jamarcus Smithhad six catches for 174 yards and a touchdown. Chas Smith had two catches for 34 yards and a touchdown,, while Shane Davidson had a 25-yard TD catch.

 

         Jaidan McDowell had four catches for 28 yards while carrying the ball 10 times for 35 yards and a touchdown. Andrew Ruppe had 33 yards and two TDs on five carries.

 

Sumter 43

White Knoll 40

 

Lexington Sumter rallied from a 33-13 halftime deficit and beat White Knoll 43-40 in double overtime at the WKHS field.

 

         Alex Krivejko booted a 31-yard field goal in the second overtime to end the game and give SHS the win.

 

         The Gamecocks, who improved to 2-0 on the season, rushed for 334 yards as a team. Quarterback Franklin Richardson had 137 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries, while running back John Peeples had 134 yards and three scores on 25 carries. Running back Kam Fortune had 54 yards and a score on six carries.

 

         Richardson completed 2 of 3 passes for 28 yards and a touchdown. A’Kye Workman had both of the receptions.

 

         Defensive end Anthony Addison led Sumter in tackles with 14, 13 of them solo stops, to go with 1 ½ tackles for loss and a forced fumble. Defensive back Jeremiah Burson had 10 tackles and an interception to end White Knoll’s possession in the second overtime. Jamarkus McCutcheon and Terrance Burgess both had nine tackles with McCutcheon forcing two fumbles.

 

         Tymaries Durant also had an interception.

 

         Dutch Fork 24

         Spartanburg 7

 

         Spartanburg – Defending AAAAA state champion Dutch Fork opened its season with a 24-7 victory over Spartanburg on Friday at Viking Stadium.

 

         Quarterback Ethan Offing completed 24 of 35 passes for 228 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Silver Foxes. Boykin Bickley had eight catches for 120 yards and two touchdowns, KJ Smith had seven catches for 32 yards and a TD.

 

         Maurice Anderson had six catches for 46 yards while running the ball 12 times for 74 yards. Offing ran for 30 yards on eight carries, while Smith ran for 29 yards on three carries.

 

         Raleigh Sellers led the DFHS defense with six tackles, one tackle for loss and one interception. Carl Fulmer had two sacks and one forced fumble.

 

         Trey Burke completed 12 of 24 passes for 119 yards and a TD for Spartanburg. Justin Rice had five catches for 71 yards and the touchdown. Don Kinard had 10 tackles.

 

         Dillon 27

         Socastee 7

 

         Myrtle Beach Dominick Felton rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries to lift Dillon to a 27-7 victory over Socastee on Friday at the SHS field.

 

         Zamaurious Robertson caught two touchdown passes among three for 57 yards. Rahmond Hamilton completed 6 of 16 passes for 114 yards.

 

         Jamarrion Fling rushed for 62 yards on 17 carries.

 

         Daniel Capehart led the Wildcat defense with 10 tackles, including a sack. Keryien Brown had eight tackles, including two TFLs.

 

         Manning 39

         Scott’s Branch 0

 

         Manning Manning evened its record at 1-1 with a 39-0 victory over Scott’s Branch on Friday at Ramsey Stadium.

 

         Jeffrey Ceasar returned a punt 57 yards for a touchdown and also returned an interception 40 yards for a score for the Monarchs.

 

         Jaylnn Coard rushed for 99 yards and a touchdown to lead the Monarchs. Kaleb Picciotti had 74 yards and a score on 14 carries, and Emmanuel Betrand had an 11-yard scoring run.

 

         Ja'Rae Mitchell threw a touchdown pass to CJ Robinson.

 

         Saluda 42

         Ridge Spring-Monetta 0

 

         Saluda Saluda improved to 2-0 on the season with a 42-0 victory over Ridge Spring-Monetta on Friday at the SHS field.

 

         Brayden Williams led the Tigers by completing 7 of 11 passes for 126 yards and two touchdowns and rushing for 60 yards and another score on 10 carries. Tristan Daniels rushed for 100 yards and a score on 14 carries and Haiden Myers had 36 yards and a TD on seven carries.

 

         Victavis Gaines had three catches for 84 yards and a score, and Josh Uhlar had two catches for 24 yards and a TD.

 

Mekhi Linton returned an interception 28 yards for a touchdown.

 

         Batesburg-Leesville 42

         Wagener-Salley 0

 

         Wagener – Batesburg-Leesville opened its season with a 42-0 victory over Wagener-Salley on Friday at the W-S field.

 

         Amadre Wooden rushed for 198 yards and three touchdowns on 13 carries to lead the Panthers. Reese Boehnke rushed for 47 yards on three carries, one a 38-yard TD run. Clarence Springs had 52 yards on seven carries.

 

         Quarterback Tanner Watkins completed 7 of 8 passes for 104 yards and two touchdowns. KD Whitt had four catches for 45 yards and the two TD passes. Tyler Clausen had two catches for 52 yards.

 

          Chapin 62

         A.C. Flora 21

 

         Chapin Brady Albro threw for 369 yards and three touchdowns to lead Chapin to a 62-21 victory over A.C. Flora on Friday at the CHS field.

 

         Nine different receivers caught passes for the Eagles. Khalen Bostick had seven catches for 107 yards and two touchdowns.


         Coltone Martin had seven catches for 97 yards. Stone Furrey had four catches for 59 yards and a touchdown, and John Rossi had a 6-yard touchdown catch. Beckham Diimmler had five catches for 35 yards.

 

         Chapin had 547 yards of total offense as it also rushed for 157 yards. Martin led the way with 103 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries. Albro, Gavin Stam and Anthony Turnbow also ran for TDs.

         

         Clinton 35

         Laurens 8

 

         Clinton Clinton evened its record at 1-1 with a 35-8 victory over Laurens on Friday at Wilder Stadium.

 

         Javen Cook rushed for 89 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries for the Red Devils. Angelo Cromer ran for 63 yards on six carries, DJ Clark had 50 yards on seven carries, and Rhett Gilliam had 35 yards and a TD on nine carries.

 

         Tushawan Richardson completed 4 of 8 passes for 82 yards and a touchdown. Devin Swindler had a 25-yard TD catch and Chris Byrd had two catches for 49 yards.

 

         Nehemias Fernandez rushed for 87 yards and the touchdown for Laurens, which fell to 0-2. Dermayjah Watts ran for the 2-point conversion.

 

         Camden 31

         Lugoff-Elgin 13

 

         Lugoff Camden evened its record at 1-1 with a 31-13 victory over Kershaw County rival Lugoff-Elgin on Friday at the L-E stadium.

 

         Quarterback Wyatt Thompson rushed for 70 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Bullldogs. He completed 5 of 12 passes for 50 yards but tossed three interceptions.

 

         Navi Boykin rushed for 55 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. Jo Jo Crim had two catches for 45 yards.

 

         Evan Presbot led Camden in tackles with six while Logan Freeman had five.

 

         Andrews 38

         Georgetown 9

 

         Andrews Brandon Cumbee and AJ Lee combined to rush for 325 yards and four touchdowns to lead Andrews to a 38-9 win over Georgetown on Friday at Webber Rowell Stadium.

         Cumbee rushed for 171 yards and three touchdowns on 10 carries to lead the Yellow Jackets in their season opener. Cumbee also threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Khalil Dorsey.

 

         Lee rushed for 154 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries.

 

         Chris Stewart led the defense with seven tackles, three tackles for loss and a quarterback sack. Maddux Cooper had five tackles and an interception.


         Loris 39

         Conway 0

 

         Loris Deuce Stephens and Roderick Purchia both rushed for over 100 yards to lead Loris to a 39-victory over Conway on Friday at the LHS field.

 

         Stephens rushed for 120 yards and one touchdown on 14 carries, while Purchia had 118 yards and two scores on nine carries. Moon Gerald completed 12 of 20 passes for 182 yards and two TDs. Grim Lewis had four catches for 86 yards and both of the touchdowns, while Zhimir Herring had five catches for 58 yards.


 

         Wren 55

         Easley 7

 

         Easley Wren led 34-7 at halftime and went on to a 55-7 victory over Easley on Friday at the EHS field.

 

         Jay Stoker completed 13 of 29 passes for 121 yards and a touchdown for Easley while rushing for 60 yards on 11 carries. Cason Brewington had two catches for 60 yards and Kyler Turner had a 2-yard TD catch.

 

         Mountain View Prep 49

         Southside Christian 7

 

         Greenville -- Mountain View Prep scored the game’s final 49 points in a 49-7 victory over Southside Christian School on Friday at the SCS field.

 

         Bryson Drummond completed 11 of 15 passes for 306 yards and three touchdowns to lead MVP. Kadarius Hainsworth had five catches for 237 yards and four touchdowns. Jaylen McGill had three catches for 38 yards while rushing for rushing for 34 yards on seven carries. Kaveon Washington had three catches for 84 yards.
