Founded in 1986 by Billy G. Baker, he brought to life the vision of a locally focused, statewide newspaper dedicated to Recognizing the Achievements of Young Athletes. 

The High School Sports Report (HSSR) prints 5,000 monthly copies plus maintains a robust online and social media presence for current news events. This year, 2024, marks the 38^th year of The HSSR’s continuous coverage of high school athletes in South Carolina. Our dedicated writers are key factors that make the HSSR “the go to” source for South Carolina high school sports information.

Over the years, the HSSR has successfully kept rates low to help promote Student Athletes in South Carolina. With the economic situation, for the first time in over a decade, sponsorship rates will increase starting Sept 1, 2024. 

The rate increase will be $50 over the previous card rates. Our popular half business card rate will be $450 now. As before, sponsors will continue to receive a complimentary subscription to the print edition.

We are expanding our content with the main page articles still being free. Now, you can bookmark your favorite school, and their articles will be there along with the ads for school sponsors. 

Our long-time sponsors and subscribers made it possible for us to present the best of South Carolina’s prep sports coverage over the years.
