Richland Northeast quarterback Will Wilson selected SC Mr. Football

Wilson is 11th quarterback of 30 recipients of the award

  Myrtle Beach -- Richland Northeast High School quarterback Will Wilson has been selected as the 30th recipient of SC Mr. Football.


           He received the honor on Saturday at halftime of the Touchstone Energy Cooperatives Bowl at Myrtle Beach High's Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.


           Wilson, who has signed to play collegiately with North Carolina State, was one of five finalists for the award. The others were Westside quarterback Cutter Woods, Rock Hill wide receiver Malik Clark, Belton-Honea Path running back Marquise Henderson and Gaffney offensive lineman Shed Sarratt.


           Wilson becomes the 11th quarterback to win the award, which was first awarded in 1995. Wilson completed 66.7 percent of his passes. throwin for 2,482 yards and 22 touchdowns, while rushing for 1,144 yards and 20 touchdowns. He missed two games after having his knee scoped. RNE finished with an 8-4 record.


            Wilson finished his career with 11,080 all-purpose yards and 119 total touchdowns.

Photos from the SCISA Class AAAA Boys State Championship Game between Porter-Gaud and First Augusta Christian. These two teams were the best possible match up for the Championship title game. After trading leads for all of the first half, Augusta Christian establish dominance in the second half with a ten point lead at one point. In never say die fashion, Porter-Gaud did not give up bringing the game back a tie half way through the fourth quarter. The last four minutes were trading the lead right up to the final 6 seconds of the game. Both of these teams played their hearts out, but only one could win. No one can say that Augusta Christian didn't play to win and they played like champions. Porter Gaud ended up winning in the last 6 seconds with a go ahead basket to take a 66 to 65 lead. But, a turnover by Augusta Christian and foul sent Porter Gaud back to the stripe and they won 68 to 65. Follow this link to all images from Championship Friday!
