Th Sumter – The Orangeburg Prep girls basketball team only led Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach 20-17 at halftime of their SCISA AAA state tournament quarterfinal game on Monday at Sumter Civic Center. However, the Lady Indians improved their shooting and defense in the second half and pulled away for a 47-28 victory.
The Lady Indians remained undefeated on the season, improving to 26-0. They will face John Paul II in a semifinal game on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the civic center.
Jane Walker Yonce led a balanced OP scoring attack with 10 points. She also had 10 rebounds for a double-double. Senior point guard Katherine Lambrecht ran the offense and finished with nine points. Izzy Exum had seven points, while Hannah Lambrecht and Anna Belle Hunter both had six points.
Carly Bell Jackson and Peyton Rumley both had eight points to lead Christian Academy. The Saints finished with a 23-9 record.
Palmetto Christian 52
Pee Dee 48
Sumter – Corey Suddeth scored 16 points in the fourth quarter to lift Palmetto Christian Academy to a 52-48 vicory over Pee Dee Academy in the SCISA AAA girls basketball state tournament quarterfinals on Monday at Wilson Hall’s Nash Student Center.
PCA, which improved to 16-6, trailed 34-33 entering the final quarter. Suddeth was able to have her big fourth quarter by connecting on 10 of 12 free throw attempts. She finished with a double-double of 33 points and 13 rebounds.
Pee Dee, which finished with a 15-10 record, was led by senior Lizzie McCaskill. She had a career high 22 points. Maddie Coward added 10 points.
Palmetto Christian will take on defending state champion Hilton Head Christian Academy in a semifinal game on Thursday at Sumter Civic Center beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Colleton Prep 31
Charleston – Senior Paige Shelton had a double-double of 14 poitns and 22 rebounds to lead Dorchester Academy to a 46-31 victory over Colleton Prep on Monday at the Northwood Academy gymnasium in the quarterfinals of the SCISA AA girls basketball state tournament.
The Lady Raigers improved to 14-9 on the season. They will face Clarendon Hall in a semifinal game on Thursday at Wilson Hall’s Nash Student Center.
Fellow senior Krystal Judy just missed a double-double of her own, finishing with 14 poitns and nine rebounds. Freshman Rylee Weathers had seven points, five assists and five steals, while eighth-grader Emery McClure had seven points and 10 steals.
John Paul II 44
Florence Christian 31
Sumter – John Paul II advanced to the semifinals of the SCISA AAA girls basketball state tournament with a 44-31 quarterfinal win over Florence Christian School on Monday at Nash Student Center.
JPII will take on undefeated Orangeburg Prep on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in a semifinal game at Sumter Civic Center.
Brady Mahoney led the 17-7 Golden Warriors with 24 points. Lili Termini followed with 13 points, and Savannah Trott had five.
Emerson Poston led FCS, which finished 11-13, with 18 points. Anna Kate Huggins had 13.
Heathwood Hall 50
Porter-Gaud 21
Sumter – After trailing 10-9 after the first quarter, Heathwood Hall held Porter-Gaud to 11 points the rest of the way in a 50-21 victory in the quarterfinals of the SCISA AAAA girls basketball state tournament on Monday at Nash Student Center.
Heathwood, which improved to 18-3, will play First Baptist in a semifinal game on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at Sumter Civic Center. First Baptist beat Trinity Collegiate 40-22.
Lauren Jacobs led the Highlanders with 27 points. Camillea Gore had nine points, SaBreya Monsanto eight
Perry Chambers led 16-11 Porter-Gaud with nine points. Leah Creaturo had eight.
Northwood 73
Cardinal Newman 32
Sumter – Northwood Academy rolled to an easy 73-32 victory over Cardinal Newman in the quarterfinals of the SCISA AAAA girls basketball state tournament on Monday at Nash Student Center.
` Northwood, which improved to 25-2, will take on Hammond in a semifinal game on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at Sumter Civic Center.
Alaya Birch led Northwood with 30 points. Virginia Byrd had 18 points, while Alyvia Tocco had nine, and Ashton Wyndham had six.
