Spartanburg – Gaffney High School scored a touchdown early in the fourth quarter and held on for a 19-14 victory over Spartanburg on Friday at Viking Stadium.
The Indians, ranked fourth in the High School Sports Report AAAAA Sweet 16 poll, improved to 5-2 overall in winning their Region 2-AAAAA opener The eighth-ranked Vikings fell to 4-4 and 0-2.
SHS held a 14-13 lead entering the fourth quarter. On the second play of the quarter, Spartanburg stopped GHS star running back Jaiden McDowell on fourth down and goal at the Vikings 1-yard line.
On the next play, however, SHS quarterback Tamijai Johnson was intercepted by Zion Ratchford at the 8. On the following play, Gaffney quarterback Riley Staton connected with wide receiver Emazon Littlejohn for a touchdown pass to make it 19-14 with 11:16 remaining in the game. The 2-ooint conversion failed.
McDowell had a huge game, rushing for 91 yards on 23 carries and coming up with nine catches for 176 yards and a touchdown. Staton completed 21 of 30 passes for 343 yards and three touchdowns. Littlejohn finished with six catches for 76 yards and two scores.
Andrew Ruppe led the Indian defense with eight tackles, an interception return for 77 yards and a quarterback sack. Jarriel Jeffries had two sacks and four tackles.
Trenton Lynch ran for 80 yards on 10 carries for the Vikings. Johnson completed 9 of 17 passes for 142 yards and two touchdowns. Khamari Cunningham caught a 57-yard touchdown pass and Ra’el Senghor had three catches for 17 yards, one for a 9-yard TD.
Peyton Jones led the defense with 10 tackles, and Charles Woodruff had an interception to go with five tackles.
Northwestern 45
Indian Land 14
Rock Hill – Northwestern High School led 22-0 after one quarter and rolled to a 45-14 victory over Indian Land on Friday at District 3 Stadium.
The Trojans, ranked No. 1 in AAAA, improved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in Region 3-AAAAA. Fourteenth-ranked Indian Land fell to 4-3 and 0-2.
Turbo Richard led the NHS offense with 13 carries for 141 yards and two touchdowns. Greer Hopkins rushed for 86 yards and a TD on 13 carries, caught a pass for 11 yards and completed 2 of 3 passes for 3 yards.
Finley Polk completed 12 of 16 passes for 99 yards and three TDs.
Will Massey led the Northwestern defense with 11 tackles and two TFLs. Kamari McFadden had three tackles, two TFLs and one sack.
Quarterback Jaxon Scheidt led Indian Land by completing 14 of 30 passes for 127 yards while rushing for 33 yards and a score on 10 carries. Hayden Morris had eight catchces for 83 yards.
Manning 40
Georgetown 13
Georgetown – Manning High School remained undefeated with a 40-13 victory over Georgetown on Friday at the GHS field.
The Monarchs, ranked ninth in AAA, are 7-0 on the season and 2-0 in Region 7-AAA. Georgetown fell to 0-7 and 0-2.
Triston Thames rushed for 121 yards on 16 carries to lead Manning. James Montgomery ran for 67 yards and a TD on five carries and Jaylnn Coard ran seven times for 75 yards and a TD.
Quarterback JaRae Mitchell had two carries for 14 yards and a TD while completing 12 of 13 passes for 120 yards and two TDs. Jeffrey Ceasar had seven catches for 72 yards and a TD, and Thames had a 23-yard scoring catch.
Jamari Wilson returned a kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown.
Ceasar had seven tackles and an interception on defense. Jontavious Canty has 12 tackles,
T.L. Hanna 56
J.L. Mann 35
Greenville – KD Patterson scored six touchdowns to lead T.L. Hanna to a 56-35 victory over J.L. Mann on Friday at the Mann field.
The Yellow Jackets, ranked sixth in AAAAA improved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in Region 1-AAAAA. Mann, ranked 12th in AAAAA, dropped to 5-2 and 1-1.
Hanna led 35-28 entering the fourth quarter before outscoring the Patriots 21-7 in the final stanza.
Patterson had 20 carries for 226 yards. Vashun Burton rushed for 60 yards on 13 carries. Khilon Groves returned an interception five yards for a score.
Walker Broome was 8-for-8 on extra point attempts.
Dillon 42
Aynor 16
Aynor – Dillon High School jumped out to a 14-0 lead after one quarter and rolled to a 42-16 win over Aynor on Friday at the AHS field.
The Wildcats, ranked second in AAA, improved to 6-1 on the season and 2-0 in Region 7-AAA. Aynor dropped to 3-4 and 0-2.
Jamarion Fling rushed for 118 yards and four TDs on nine carries and also had a 2-point conversion run to lead DHS. Quarterback Josiah Oxendine completed 10 of 16 passes for 126 yards and one TD. Zamaurious Robertson had five catches for 67 yards and one score.
Sirmod McCallum led the defense with 14 tackles and a fumble recovery. Ian Myers and Daniel Capehart both had nine tackles. Capehart also had three carries for 47 yards and a TD.
Fort Dorchester 49
Goose Creek 35
Goose Creek – Fort Dorchester High School improved to with a 49-35 victory over Goose Creek on Friday at the GCHS field.
The Patriots, ranked sixth in AAAAA, is now 2-0 in Region 8. Charles Watson completed 13 of 20 passes for 212 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another.
Monty Johnson had seven catches for 120 yards and two TDs, and Mul-ty Snider had six catches for 116 yards and two scores.
Davian Brown ran for 119 yards on 16 carries, while Ryan Campbell had 118 yards and two scores on 14 carries.
Byrnes 38
Boiling Springs 31
Boiling Springs – Byrnes High School improved to 7-1 with a 38-31, double-overtime win over Boiling Springs on Friday at the BSHS field.
The Rebels, ranked third in AAAAA, is 2-0 in Region 2-AAAAA. Boiling Springs fell to 3-5 and 0-2.
Byrnes quarterback Andrew Stevens completed 25 of 36 passes for 284 yards and four touchdowns. He also ran for a score.
Ethan Morris had eight catches for 124 yards and three touchdowns. Chamarryus Bomar had seven catches for 49 yards and a TD.
James Oates led the Rebels with 13 tackles to go with two tackles for loss. Chris Foster had `12 tackles and two TFLs, and Aaron Littlejohn had five tackles and two TFLs. Oates and Foster both had a sack.
Jacob Coman averaged 47.5 yards per punt on four punts, went 5-for-5 on extra point attempts and kicked a field goal.
Strom Thurmond 48
Saluda 3
Johnston – Leading just 7-0 after one quarter, Strom Thurmond went on to a 48-3 victory over Saluda on Friday at the STHS field.
The Rebels, ranked 10th in AA, improved to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in Region 3. Seventh-ranked Saluda fell to 5-2 and 1-1.
Quan Edmond completed 11 of 15 passes for 182 yards and three TDs for Thurmond. Jay Sewell had six catches for 87 yards and a score, Braylon Staley had four catches for 73 yards and a TD, and Demarius Tolen had a 22-yard TD catch.
Chrs Barnes had 58 rushing yards and a TD for the Rebels. Michael Blocker had 38 yards and a score, and Cam Blacks had 52 yards and a TD.
KenMane Brunson led Saluda by rushing for 72 yards on 11 carries. John Pinto booted a 39-yard field goal for the Tigers’ only points.

Andrews – Andrews High School improved to 5-3 on the season with a 53-26 win over Mullins on Friday at Webber Rowell Stadium.
Lavon White rushed for 122 yards and four touchdowns on 13 carries for Andrews, which improved to 1-1 in Region 8-AA. Quarterback Brandon Cumbee had eight carries for 93 yards and two scores.
Luke Blakeley led the defense with six tackles and one forced fumble. Jacolby Sanders had two sacks and two TFLs.
Kanazzion Bethea completed 14 of 22 passes for 257 yards and three touchdowns for Mullins, which fell to 0-7 and 0-2. Lebron Avant had four catches for 150 yards and two TDs. Tyron Allen had three catches for 70 yards.
Loris 48
Waccamaw 3
Loris – Loris High School improved to 4-2 with a 48-3 win over Waccamaw on Friday at the LHS field.
Tray Knox had three carries for 93 yards and a touchdown and caught a 38-yard TD pass to lead Loris, which improved to 1-1 in Region 7-AAA. Quarterback Jackson Huff completed 6 of 7 passes for 60 yards and two TDs, while Moon Gerald completed 6 of 7 passes for 58 yards and two TDs. DJ Gibbs had two touchdown catches for 51 yards.
Moon also ran for a touchdown.
Waccamaw dropped to 3-4 and 1-1.
Greenwood 24
Easley 7
Greenwood – Greenwood High School improved to 4-3 with a 24-7 victory over Easley on Friday at Babb Stadium.
Greenwood improved to 2-0 in Region 1-AAAA. Easley dropped to 3-4 and 1-1.
Easley quarterback Jay Stoker completed 14 of 25 passes for 185 yards. Will Patton had eight catches for 114 yards and completed a pass for 16 yards.
Talan Scott led the Easley defense with 11 tackles and three TFLs. Kyler Turner also had 11 tackles. Scott had a sack and broke up a pass.
Bethesda 46
Colleton Prep 14
Savannah, Ga. – Bethesda Academy remained undefeated on the season with a 46-14 over Colleton Prep on Friday at the BA field.
Bethesda, ranked second in the HSSR SCISA AA Pick 6 poll, improved to 8-0. Colleton Prep, ranked fourth in AA, fell to 5-3.
Triston Randall completed 9 of 12 passes for 238 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 59 yards and three more scores on nine carries.
Noah Jenkins rushed for 115 yards on 16 carries and caught a 46-yard TD pass. Thomas Peters had five catches for 152 yards and on TD. Charles Greene also had a TD catch.
Raleigh Wesley led the defense with six tackles and three TFLs.
