Summerville On The Road Toi Hillcrest In AAAAA Baseball Needing A Win To Stay Alive

From Staff Reports

SimpsonvilleSummerville and Hilcrest will play Game Two of the AAAAA baseball series tonight (June, 7) in Simpsonville and the Rams took the first game on Tuesday in Summerville 5-3.

The HSSR caught up with Green Wave head coach Bo Charpia before he got on the bus to leave for the game earlier Friday and he shared these comments., “We play at 7 tonight and we plan to start Noah Chapman and monitor him closely,” said Coach Charpia.

“We will need to get out to a better start and get a lead early,” said Coach Charpia. “That will build confidence. We beat them for six innings Tuesday but the first inning is what killed us. We will need to play cleaner in the field and work counts deeper at the plate against their very good pitching staff.”

Current batting leaders for the Green Wave include top hitter Cole Messina at .488, 20 RBI’s and three home runs. PJ Morlando is batting .480 with a team leading 32 RBI’s. Maddox Webb is hitting .353 with 18 RBI’s. Carson Messina is at .340 with 28 RBI’s and Owen Wellman is hitting .321 with 19 RBI’s.

HSSR staff writer Neill Kirkpatrick will be hand to cover the game tonight.

The HSSR has reached out twice to the head Hillcrest coach for stats and comments on his team but he has not got back with us yet.

In their 5-3 win on Tuesday pitcher Colin Elmore pitched well and won the game for the Rams. The top hitters or the Rams in Game One were Jacob Calvert, Carson Eriwine, Houston Curry.
